Popular attraction blamed for making hundreds sick

Many families in Kentucky enjoy vacations in the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge area. They spend time in nature and exploring the area and the many activities that are offered. One of those activities is ziplining, but unfortunately it has reportedly made many of the customers sick this summer.

The CLIMB Works ziplining in Gatlinburg is a popular place for visitors to engage in an exhilarating experience. Unfortunately, hundreds have had an experience that leaves little to be desired this summer. At least 548 people have become sick with a gastrointestinal illness since June. This number is believed to be low as it is not clear how many family members have also become sick and not all visitors have been contacted.

The victims are reporting symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. Many have been bedridden and several have had to go to the emergency room. It is believed that contaminated coolers of water that were placed along the route are the source of the sickness. The coolers contained well water that has tested positive for E. coli and total coliforms.

Getting sick while on vacation is no fun. But when the sickness is caused by a negligent property owner it can be infuriating. Those who believe they have been injured because of a negligent property owner may want to speak with a legal professional who is skilled in premises liability. A legal professional can investigate the circumstances surrounding the injury, including whether or not proper inspections have been made. An unexpected injury or sickness can result in medical expenses, emotional trauma and other issues.

Families who have had to face unexpected sickness due to a property owner's negligence may be eligible for compensation. It is important to hold property owners responsible for their negligence so that no one else is hurt.
